American Red Cross and Autry

The Museum's blood drive was a success! Twenty-nine pints were donated and accepted. Thank you to everyone who gave blood.

Gene Autry has a long association with the American Red Cross, going back to 1940 when he and Shirley Temple promoted the Red Cross War Relief effort. So it is no surprise that the museum he founded has held community blood drives for the past several years. We are pleased to announce that the Autry Museum will have a blood drive on Friday, July 30th and it will honor Maxine Hansen, Jackie and Gene Autry's long time executive assistant. Maxine would like everyone to know the following:

If you have donated blood before, you know how rewarding the experience is and we hope you can join us at the Autry for this special blood drive. If you have never donated blood but are thinking about it, now is the perfect time. Below you'll find details on how to sign up. Thank you so very much from everyone at Gene Autry Entertainment, especially Maxine!

Gene Autry and Shirley Temple were photographed at Shirley's home in Brentwood California, to promote the June 22, 1940 American Red Cross "Radio Benefit for War Relief" event. That's her dog Ching-Ching in the third photo. Gene Autry is playing his Gibson J-200 guitar which is currently part of the Autry Museum's collection.
