Synopsis:
Gene Autry and his fellow ranchmen try to force the Wentworth Lumber Company to plant new trees in place of those which they cut down. Unfortunately the owner of the Lumber Company, Asa Wentworth, is dominated by his granddaughter, Billie, who imagines herself in love with Larry Drew, ruthless general manager of the Wentworth lumber interests. Asa, fearing that open opposition to Drew would drive the obstinate Billie to elope, secretly helps Gene and Frog plan an elaborate plot to have Mount Warner declared a State Park and wildlife shrine, in order to prevent its ruthless stripping by Asa's own company. Billie spreads the rumor that there is no wildlife on Mount Warner, which is true, and invites her friends to see for themselves. Gene and Frog immediately stock the place with game. The ruse is successful to a point - Frog's wild imagination has stretched too far, and he has brought in zebras, bears, and lions from the zoo. The absurd situation exposes them as perpetrators of the hoax. Before the party leaves Mount Warner, a storm comes up. When Asa is washed into a mountain torrent, Drew proves to be the coward he is when he makes no attempt to rescue him. Gene and Frog stage a spectacular rescue and save Asa. Billie sees for herself the devastation caused by the mutilation of the mountain and she is won over to Gene's side.
