Synopsis:
Seeking a mystery man who has killed his best friend in a poker game, Gene Autry finds a wild young cowboy, Larry Evans, hiding from a posse with his lovely sister, Mary. Evans' gun was the murder weapon. Gene, after subduing the buckaroo with a few well-directed blows, is convinced of his innocence and continues his search for the real killer. When ranchers Dave Randall and Don Mason express an interest in purchasing the Evans' worthless ranch, Gene becomes suspicious and accidentally discovers that a valuable lode of iron ore is underneath the ranch. Gene realizes that Evans has been implicated in the murder so that Randall and Mason can get rid of him and buy his ranch. In a clever restaging of the crime, with all suspects, Gene unmasks the killer in a suspenseful climax.
