Gene and Pat help a courageous old lady defend a ranch after the owner is murdered.
Detailed Synopsis:
Foreman Gene Autry's boss Pete Munroe is killed by unidentified gunmen. Maud, Pete's elderly Boston niece with a mouthful of malapropisms and a body full of spirit and fire, arrives to take over the ranch. She is inclined to sell, but is persuaded by Gene to keep the property because Gene believes that old Pete's murderer must have wanted the ranch for unknown reasons. He has his hands full solving the enigma of why the modest Munroe ranch is worth two murders. Finally, with the help of pseudo-magician Pat Buttram, Gene tracks down the culprit, Chad Matthews, who had wanted to use the Munroe property for rustling activities.
