Brief Synopsis:
As a special agent for a mining company, Gene risks his life to track down bandits who operate from a ghost town.
Detailed Synopsis:
Mining company special agent Gene Autry and his pal Pat Buttram head for the Assayer's office with a quarter of a million dollars in gold bars and with Lita, the pretty daughter of the mine boss, who is an unwelcome passenger. Duke Travis and a masked gang attack the group, and Gene, in order to save Lita’s life, is forced to let them get away with the gold. Gene tracks the men to Ghost Town, where he speaks with Crazy Charlie, who says he makes horseshoes for dead outlaws. Gene contacts law agencies to track down the gold bars, which are hard to get rid of, and traces them to the Mexican Border where the gang sells gold nuggets once a week. With the help of Mexican officials, Gene and Pat discover that the Travis mine in Mexico hasn't produced in years, leading Gene to suspect them of being the smugglers. He then traces the gold back to Crazy Charlie in Ghost Town, who forges golden horseshoes with iron shells over them. Gene exposes Charlie and battles the Travis gang in the streets of Ghost Town, while Pat swears he really sees a live ghost.
