Detailed Synopsis:
Tim Carson, owner of the TC Ranch, and his niece, Lila, decide to sell off their land in small farms. Hearing of this, Carson's neighbor Carl Meecham, owner of the Flying M Ranch and Gene Autry's boss, cancels the use of the only right-of-way to town, which runs over his property. In town, Carson and Meecham have a run-in where Meecham threatens Carson's life. Later, Carson is bushwhacked by Jody, his cook, a disguised land grabber. Meecham is blamed. Gene comes to the rescue by discovering Jody's duplicity and plan to make use of an old land-law governing the rights-of-way. During a thrilling chuckwagon race, Gene overpowers Jody, who confesses. Meecham is freed and Lila decides to stay and not to sell the ranch.
